Impact of Directionality on Student Interpreters’ Performance in Consecutive Interpreting

Studies showed that interpreters might differ in performance when it comes to directionality. Nevertheless, limited research has been undertaken concerning the impact of directionality on student interpreters’ consecutive interpreting (CI), a type categorised by working mode. This study aims investigate relationship between and adopting quantitative approach. Four from Chinese university were selected as samples with homogeneity sampling method. The participants used their first language (L1, or A language) English second (L2, B language). Analytic rating scales combined propositional analysis assign scores for different aspects accuracy completeness product CI test interpreters. To determine performance, paired t-test was adopted current testing significance difference two mean test. results affected Overall, performed better into-B direction than into-A direction.
